South Park

In the show south park the main characters that are all white little male boys. This in fact supports Gerbner's theory because in his article he states that most scripts are written for men. There was violence in this episode and I would not call it happy violence because there is this character named kenny that dies in every single episode. The thing thats different about him is that he is the only on that is poor out of all the other charcters. When kenny dies its pretty nasty there is a lot of goar put into the way he dies. Gerbner stated that "most of the violence we see depicted is pretty snitized". So Gerbener is obviously wrong about this show. I think kenny getting killed in every episode is unnecessary but it happens in every episode that you dont think much of it. In this show in particular there were no major roles focused on a female and Gerbner is 100% correct when he stated that "men outnumber women in prime television 2 to 1".

The Franchise for Star Wars was very succesful.After May 25, 1977, when the first ever Star Wars movie came out there were five movies released after that.Those being relatively successful.All these movies put together brought a total of 4.37 billion dollars at the Box office.They also came out with action figures and posters and all that good stuff the also brought in a handfull of money. I researched how much an original dark vador doll would cost and an average price for it is around 6,000 dollars.  I read in the article   "The End of Originality" that they give the green light to movies that were a success to make remakes of it. So that is why there is more then one Star Wars movie because the previous ones before the very first one were very successful.  Just this past February The Phantom Menace came out again in theaters but in 3D. In the article "Tinsletown in Transition" I came across that 3D movies cost a little bit more then a regular ones. So by releasing a movie in 3D the movie Franchise will make that much more money. I also read that the most important audience are those in the under-25 males Quadrant. Star Wars did a really good job at the because it atracted a range of ages to watch the movie. If Star Wars continues to do all this they well be successful for years to come

 

MY MEDIA

I discovered that the one thing I do the most is listen to music.I listen to it when im working out. When I  cant sleep at night, I listen to music untill I fall asleep. Im able to listen to music at work. Every where I drive to I listen to music. I listen to a lot of country and hip-hop. I rarely watch tv do to the fact that I'm doing home work or Im at the gym. I also have baseball practice all the time. When I do get to watch tv its just shows that I want to watch like Jersey Shore, Gold Rush,Pawn Stars, and Storage Wars. With this assingment I noticed that I'm checking facebook on my phone all the time when im at home. I dont Spend hours on it but I check for notifications every now and then. I think that my media habbits have gotten better because I dont Spend hours on the computer anymore. Now that you can do everything on your phone im not spending so much time on the computer.

Woman's role in society

I believe that a woman's role in society is to be hardworking. For a long time  men have been the ones doing all the work. It's time for the men to be stay at home dads. While the women go out and bring in all the money and still make dinner. I personaly would not mind being at home taking care of my kids while my wife goes to work. Women are now as equal as men therefore they should be doing things that make them stronger women. Not necessarly physicaly. Men need a brake from all the hardwork. Now it is the for the women to step up to the plate.

Media's influence

Today's media can not only be positively influencial but negative also. There are many shows out there like "Jersey Shore " that show the life of people that just like to get drunk and party. I see nothing positive being shown in this.Yet is has thousands of viewers every thursday night, including me. Students around my school talk about this show all the time. They talk about how they would like to party like them. There are commercials like "nike", that make you want to buy that product. They use professional athletes to show that they like the product, and say it is the best out there. This makes the consumer believe that since a "pro" saying it, then it has to be true. This leads to them to buying the product.

Education

Education is very important. You need to be educated if you want to become something in life. No bum off the street with no education is going to the next president. If you want a high paying job you need education. No business is going to want to hire someone that can't read. They want people that are smart. Eveyone needs some sort of education. Education is whats going to put food on the table.
